Dear Lyons Family,
I receive Google alerts for “Melanoma” and your site was in my email today. My son was diagnosed with a 2.00mm nodular melanoma on the back of his neck. We had 2 surgeries at MDA and now 5 years have past- Nick is now 24, and so far, so good. A horrible, gut wrenching experience that brought many blessings and a much stronger faith and trust in God. You know what I’m talking about. I still go to the MPIP.org (Melanoma Patients Information Page) bulletin board http://www.mpip.org/bb/bbindex.html and check on the people who are going through their battles. There is a mother in Ohio who posts about her 26 yr. old son who is now stage IV and very ill. He is married with a young son.
Linda Stanford, “mom to John”, posted on Mon, Jul 30, 2007, a discouraging update, “It seems we may be reaching the final battles. John recently had 2 brain surgeries and then a brain bleed last week leaving his left side paralized. He talks about giving up the fight now. He hopes to recover some movement and then wants to go home and spend time with his wife and 1 year old. I don’t want him to suffer but I am not sure the time to quit fighting is over. He is only 26 years old. Life shouldn’t end so soon for him. How can I comfort him and not make him feel guilty about his desicions. I will support him and love him but it is so hard for me not to be sad when I am with him. Tears come so easily. What advice can you offer me at this time. Can any of you just talk to me about how you handled the last months. It helps knowing there are other mothers out there that have gotten through this awful period in our lives. I don’t want to give my baby back to God but He is calling so loudly now. I can’t believe how physically it hurts.”

My heart hurts for her. Is there anything that you know that might help them. John has has numerous treatments and most recently was rejected from NCI because he did not meet the criteria for any of their trials.
Your Lyons Family site is beautiful and I will be checking in on your family and praying that God heals your beautiful wife.
Sincerely,
Barbara Spannaus, Austin, TX

William wants to let Jack know that the big fire torch looks like it was “really cool”…but not as cool as his gummy snake. He also wants to know if Jack got to sit on the giant chair all by himself. He sends both Hallie and Jack a big hug.
angie Said,
thanks for uploading all the pics. It’s so different not having you guys close by, or a phone call away! Seeing the pics and reading updates makes it easier!
